Welcome to Year 1!
In Year 1 we provide an exciting and diverse learning environment which gives the children the opportunity to become independent learners. Starting from September 2013 we group the children by ability for Literacy and Numeracy. This allows us to teach focused activities which will cater for each individual’s emerging needs and aims to secure the children’s basic reading, writing and number skills.
The teachers who work within Year 1 are Miss Woodward, Miss Mitchell, Mrs Jennings and Miss Ronald. We are also fortunate to have four highly experienced and motivated teaching assistants, these being Mrs Tuffs, Mrs Simmons, Mrs Duggan and Mr Wylde.
Maths/Literacy -Given out each Friday to be returned Wednesday.
Reading Logs - Should be in school everyday and any reading at home needs to be recorded in the reading log.
P.E. Kits – Please ensure that your child has a PE kit in school which is labelled with their name for ease of identification. Kit should include T-shirt, shorts and pumps/trainers and jogging bottoms for winter if needed.
Punctuality/Attendance – Children should be in their class line for 8.48 am to be collected by their class teacher.
Please ensure that your child is not late for school as they can miss important information given out at the start of the day.
Regular attendance at school is important to ensure your child does not miss work covered as it can be very difficult for your child to catch up on the areas missed.
Details of trips and workshops can be found on the Year 1 newsletters.
